
Join world renown pianist and vocalist Matthew Harrison and award-winning musical theatre performer Keely Baisden Knudsen for a tremendously entertaining performance full of sparkle, sizzle, elegance and humor. ELEGANCE is a celebration of the songs of the Great American Musical!

Matt has been a member of Actors’ Equity Association since 2005, writing original musicals and performing leading roles for touring union companies. He recently worked with Julie Andrews in the Great American Mousical at Legacy Theatre in Stony Creek.
Matt is the immediate past President of the Connecticut chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and has served on the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) executive board as the Membership Chair. In his current position in CMEA, Vocal Czar, he helped to revolutionize the adjudication process for high school singers across the state. His focus in these professional organizations has been championing underrepresented factions of Connecticut musicians and facilitating access and equity for all students.
In 2018, he became the first choral artist to be granted a National Park Artist-In-Residence position (Glacier National Park, Montana). He earned the distinction of Connecticut ACDA's Choral Director of the Year, culminating in the first published choral work explicitly created for a national park. Matt is working on a book to help students build music literacy fundamentals called “The Gravity of Solfege,” hopefully in print by 2025.
Matt has been the choir director at Hamden Hall Country Day School since 2014. His thriving program has been among the state's most successful and has earned significant national accolades. He also serves as the organist and choir director at First Lutheran Church of the Reformation in New Britain. Matt lives in Hamden with his partner, Maggie, and their French bulldog (Claude).
Matthew Harrison graduated from Amity Regional Senior High School (Woodbridge, CT) before attending James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA) for his piano and music education undergraduate degree. He then went on to earn his M.M. from the New England Conservatory (Boston, MA) in voice performance. This fall, Matt will begin his doctoral studies in choral conducting at The University of Connecticut (Storrs, CT).

Keely has performed internationally in plays, musicals, operas, and dance companies and has choreographed and directed hundreds of events and theatrical productions. She is a composer/lyricist often engrossed in the undertaking of new plays and musicals. Her authorship includes book and lyrics on Ladies M, Joan Joyce (co-author), and adaptations with original music for A Christmas Carol: a holiday tradition, Peter and Wendy, and The Tales of Christopher Robin and Winnie-the-Pooh. Kendall-Hunt has published two editions of her text Monologue Book for All Ages... with Pointers. and Joan Joyce: the Wonder Girl has been published in two languages. After graduating first in her class with a BFA from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and receiving a Masters in Drama on full scholarship from The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Keely found a love of teaching drama to all levels. She has taught at Yale University, Fairfield University, Hartt School of Drama, Southern Connecticut State University, Quinnipiac University, and was the Director of Education for the Elm Shakespeare Company for several years. Keely and her family reside in Connecticut, where she spearheaded a theatrical renovation and is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of The Legacy Theatre, which produces professional runs of shows per season, with classes and one-off productions throughout the year.
